Does anyone know what the error I have on my dash means? It doesn't start anymore. Battery is fully charged and nothing has changed since it last ran. It is a track only bike.
I bought it new in 2012 and yes it has 110.756 km but everything has been renewed before I took to too track last year. Only did about 3000km last year.

VDS is shown in display, vertical down sensor or commonly known as crash sensor. Located on rear frame, right hand side, just in front of ABS hydroblock.
I am not sure how the crash sensor of the S1000RR works. In my old GSX-R it's a mechanical switch, which closes a contact if the bike lays on it's side. Maybe the contacts of your sensor got stuck somehow. I would try to move/shake the sensor and see if it solves the problem.
Apparently when you have Race ABS and DTC there's no sensor, that's why I couldn't find it under the seat on the right side. There was a bracket but no sensor. In mean time I can start it again but still have the error on my dash. I had a burned fuse...
Disconnecting the battery didn't reset anything, the error remains
See the picture I made yesterday. It is taken from the front looking to the rear of the bike.
The connector on the left is a blank one. I suppose that's the one used for the VDS. In the middle just above the shocker, is the one from the motor for the bowden calbes that runs to the exhaust (I don't have the motor anymore because I have a full Akropovic).
In meantime, I can start it again that was just a fuse but I still have the error.
Ask your dealer where the f... crash sensor is located. On my 2011 is located at the bracket u showed in the pic.
Or may be check it on the BMW HP (I made the link to) where the little sucker is hidden.
Once a decision has been done, never explain, never apologize.
When I read the error codes from the ECU, I got 3 errors related to the heel sensor (for measuring the lean angle).
I replaced the sensor but I still got the same error.... anyone got another idea? The BMW dealer also told me to replace it but apparently it didn't solve the issue.
I had the same Problem a few months ago. I had a mistake at one of the abs bus cables. The isolation of the cable was destroyed duo to vibration. Both, Crash Sensor and abs Modul were replaced before. We had to test the whole cable tree to find it. Start at the abs module. Sorry for my bad english.
